Hands down the Best Real Estate team in Savannah, GA area. My husband and I worked with Ms. Cathleen to buy our home in Guyton. She was super helpful. My husband was overseas and I was living out of state. On top of that, we bought a new construction home. She kept us informed and updated throughout the process. She also fought for us in the end by saving us some money. We were supposed to bring in cash, but we actually received money back! Which was AWESOME! I have given my life in service to God and country. I have never been treated with such disregard for my rights as a home buyer as I have mistreated with Cathleen Berela and Associates. No civility was given to the well-being of myself or my children. I was referred to a builder by my brother and several of my brothers and sisters in arms. I needed a custom home built secondary to my disabilities. I was directed to Cathleen Berela and Associates by the builder. During this time I was given a contract to sign by Cathleen and Associates and I was told by Cathleen that I needed a pre approval letter to proceed. This was perplexing to me because I needed the price of the home in order to procure a preapproval. I explained the situation to my brother who is a casual friend of the builder. The builder explained the process to my brother and I and stated that he would speak with Cathleen and he would ensure I was well taken care of. I got a preapproval at an estimated price point. I picked out the floor plan and I began to speak with Cathleen about changes that I needed secondary to my disability. She told me that the builder would not do the changes I explained he is a custom builder That’s why I am here. I told her I would call him to discuss my needs personally she became very irate and began to yell as she stated that My brother and I should have never spoken to the builder without her consent and I told her the builder had no issue with us having an open dialogue because of my specific needs and disability. She stated that she will not tolerate me speaking to him and she refused to continue working with me in violation of my rights and her contract. I am mortified by her detestable behavior. I have never experienced anyone so demeaning and ill mannered and she had no respect for the Code of Ethics for Realtors or the Oath she took. This has been an arduous time for myself and our Country. My optimism about finally getting a home that was best for my needs and my disability were overshadowed by a public service professional refusing without any just cause to work with me and my family. I was in the process of selling my home under the pretense I was getting one built. I want awareness and visibility about this company. I don’t want anyone especially a soldier to go through what I am going through right now. Thank you for reading.
Cathleen Barela is a true professional. Going well out of her way for her customers. She didn't hesitate to be tough with our builder when they tried to cut corners. Very hard working and thorough, so glad we picked her.
